We were oozing with enthusiasm for all things Quest Club tonight. Thank you to Cabin Equestrian for allowing us to host our event in their Café.
After a slightly later start than I had planned, which had resulted in my husband arriving with a memory stick to save the night, I gave a presentation on the Quest Club structure, rules, regulations and some pointers on eligibility. The presentation seemed to of been enjoyed by most, and thankfully I received only a small amount of heckling. I have provided you with a link to my presentation below.
Hilary Anderson gave a presentation on Effective Test Riding, providing us with some insights into Dressage from the judges point of view. Hilary covered subjects from 'turnout of horse and rider' to how to ride better movements within the test, circles, transitions and how to impress a judge as you enter the arena (smile, ladies smile!) She gave us clear instruction on what she likes to see in a good halt, immobility.. salute! so hopefully now we can all go on and earn a few extra marks next time we compete.
The evening was rounded off with Lynne giving us an insight of the current 'state of play' with who has qualified, and the plans for the current teams to attend the Final in October at Howe, there are exciting times ahead for all those planning to compete, and we wish one and all the very best of luck, and hopefully the next few weeks of training we have organised will set you all in good stead for the final :o)
Many of the twenty riders who attended have noted their interest in joining the Group &/or attending future Quest Club competitions, which is particularly good news for Gordon Dressage Group, as we have just published our calendar dates for 2018.
We look forward to welcoming new members and old, and hope we can all continue to be supportive and encouraging to our fellow competitors.
